Help Educate plans to extend scholarship coverage to additional municipalities in the departments of Nueva Segovia and León in 2009 and 2010. The additional municipalities include Macuelizo, Santa Maria, Murra, and Dipilto in Nueva Segovia. We are also exploring the possibilities for expansion in the community of Quetzalguaque, León. Additional scholarships will be added at a rate of six to 12 scholarships per year depending on available funding. In addition, the possibility of establishing a leadership institute that will facilitate the development of leadership skills for scholarship recipients while establishing long-term relationships with employers through annual leadership institute conferences. The objectives of the leadership institute will be to increase the chances for future employment of scholarship recipients, to establish internship opportunities, and to develop sound leadership and moral characteristics among participants.
